Keeping It Cool!

Keeping It Cool!

Summer is full on and like most people, we are spending lots of time either on the river, at the beach, in a pool or under a sprinkler in the backyard. With all this vitamin D, we are doing everything we can to keep our little mermaid safe and protect her from harmful sun rays and the heat. We lather up, we reapply, we hydrate and we cover up with water shirts etc as needed, all while having a blast! We hope you are doing the same! Just like we protect our bodies from the sun and heat, your car may need some help as well. High temperatures in sunny Florida are torture on your cars AC and Cooling systems. Most vehicles AC will get them 30-40 degrees cooler than outside temperatures. Though that might not seem enough, 70 degrees while sitting in traffic is WAY cooler than 100 degrees! The good news is that once the vehicle gets moving and more air is moved across your condenser, you should get another 5-10 degrees cooler. Same thing for your engine. Your Cooling fans are working overtim ... read more

A Mix of Emotions

 A Mix of Emotions

At breakfast yesterday, in a matter of 2 minutes, my beautiful 3 yr old daughter ran the spectrum of every emotion I can think of. I mean from, happy to sad to crying to nervous and confused to angry crying to hysterically laughing… all this over Cheerios or Rice Krispies for breakfast! Now, if you’ve ever been around toddlers, you’re smiling because you’ve been there and done that. This happens in my life from time to time, but what hit home with this emotional unloading was how much I could relate to her feelings. With everything going on with the uncertainty of COVID -19 and then all the Civil Rights issues and protesting, like most people I am experiencing emotions...lots of emotions. So, like I tell my daughter, emotions are OK and real. It’s how we handle them that really matters. As far as COVID-19 goes, I’m celebrating that it looks like we may have avoided something truly terrible, and am praying that we don’t have another round. Kn ... read more

Be Positive!

Be Positive!

I’m not sure if you noticed or not, but we made it through March! (That was the longest March I can remember.) I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not but let’s be positive and say that it is. Let’s continue being positive and pray for the doctors and researchers to find a cure or vaccine for this Covid-19 ASAP and continue praying for all the workers and patients, as well as the rest of us trying our best to NOT get sick! So basically, forget April Fools day and keep on being germ aware by washing hands and disinfecting. Let’s keep being nice to those we meet, because we have no clue how bad this environment is affecting them and to be honest, I reflect every now and again because I don’t realize how negative I can be with all the stress of the unknown. I think it’s the unknown that gets me the most. We have actively prepared for the future. We have taken our local government’s advice on financing, maximizing distancing and l ... read more

Don't Be Just Lucky!

Don't Be Just Lucky!

In the environment we live in right now, it’s hard to NOT to hear or see something about the Corona Virus everywhere you look. So here’s my 2 cents. Wash your hands and use hand sanitizer. If you feel sick, stay home. Avoid traveling, especially on planes and overseas. And taking a cruise right now might not be the best idea as a get away. That’s it! Don’t let the media scare you into anything else, and don’t leave your health up to luck. If you do the above and listen to what your local government suggests, this will pass over just like every other world ending plague we’ve seen over the last 20 years. Do the same for your vehicle. Don’t let any shop scare you into anything you are not familiar with. If we suggest you need brakes, tires, wiper blades etc., ask me to show you! Why not? Your shop should be trustworthy and transparent! I welcome you to test me on it. Do your regular maintenance. If nothing else than changing your fluids, regu ... read more

Happy New Year to You and Yours!

Happy New Year to You and Yours!

It’s always exciting this time of year as folks look at the New Year as a way to start over and have a fresh beginning. Whether that’s starting a workout program, changing how you eat or just adjusting some daily habits to better yourself, it’s always a bit invigorating (no matter how long it lasts.) 2020 is a step into the next decade and that in itself makes me wonder what the future holds and what adventures await. Like most folks, when I say 2020 out loud, I usually follow it up with the tune from the Ramones 2020 24 hours to go… If you didn’t before, you are welcome, that now you can’t stop singing it either! With the new year I like to start scheduling all the things that need to be replaced or updated around the house, like the smoke detector batteries, TV remote batteries and even the various clock batteries I have, so that I know they are handled. It’s also a good time to do the same with your vehicle and get some of the basic main ... read more
